Percorsi Ritrovati was born from the Oliveti Ritrovati project
Just as a city is not only its centre, Matera is not only the Sassi. Its periphery is the countryside: farmhouses, granges, sheepfolds, centuries-old olive groves that tell the city's history as much as the cobbled lanes of the Sassi do.
Percorsi Ritrovati was born from the Oliveti Ritrovati project and Slow Food Matera to activate a slow tourism made of farmhouses, pastures and underground oil mills: a Matera that is still alive, one the visitor deserves to experience through emotions, not just photographs.
A tourism built on rural land that is still intact, on religious and pagan celebrations, on authentic food enjoyed in conviviality, and on the seasonal variety tied to natural cycles: the grape harvest, the olive harvest, Christmas, Carnevale, Easter, the wheat harvest.
